The night before Christmas she came into our lives. It was an unusual welcome to the new member since everyone was in deep silence. But soon enough, she became the heart of everyone in the family. It’s still fresh in my memory the way we used to make her sit in between the pillows, how we tricked her to walk, how she used to be glued to TV for mickey mouse and dancing to the rhymes and songs, how I caressed her in my lap for the nights while preparing for the board exams.
Being the youngest she enjoys the luxury to be pampered and careless. No one dares to scold her as she would cry in a single breath and turns red. She would lose her lunchbox, water bottle and many a times her pencil box. She would get up in the morning lazily and then sing while bathing and rush to pack her things up and forget some or the other thing. Though she is good at studies but her teachers complain of her talkative nature too. Once she was so engrossed in her stories that she didn’t even remember to have her breakfast.
She frowns if anyone talks of leaving her as if we all are immortal. She gets scared of even uttering a word ‘ghost’. She would narrate the stories she read and always be excited to show her paintings & sketches, origami arts & crotchet work. Her love for drawing is such that she tries to make up for it even in her exams. Sometimes she tries to clean her things up but still one would find her belongings everywhere in the home. I wonder from which encyclopaedia does she name the puppies and even her toys.
When I left for college, she cried for days together as if I’ll not come back again. She’ll be the first one to open my bag to find present for herself. She still counts the days before I leave and gets nostalgic seeing the things later. My friends cherish gabfest with her. Whenever she speaks to me over phone, she’ll wish me and starts narrating her day and always ends with ‘Miss you’ & ‘Love you’. Her voice is filled with pure love and it just takes away all the worries. I get really amazed to see the way she puts her heart & soul to learn any new thing. It’s so fascinating the way she remembers every instance. She is so young but tries to act mature in certain situations.
Though she turns fourteen today but she is still the same. I want her to grow up to live her life joyously and at the same time I want her to be always my little angel.
Love you too! 😊
